Frequently encountered problems with web version

1. My clutalw or pileup file doesn't work ?

Since MASIA expects input sequence alignment files in a specific format, any deviations will affect the program from running normally. User is expected to stick to the format as shown in the example files.

2. I got my alignment file from web servers. Why isn't it working ?

Did you check whether HTML tags are also saved along with the alignment ? If so manually edit it. Please refer to the example formats.

3. Is there a restriction on the length and characters to be used in the sequence names ?

Yes there is! Special characters like colon, underscore, underline is not preferred in the name of the sequence. Make sure you have short sequence names in your sequence input file! (less than 15 characters)

4. Will MASIA work independent of input format ?

No. MASIA strictly requires the input format as given in the examples.

5. Should I need to specify the format ?

Yes. User must specify the file format using the radio button. Click here to see an example.

6. When I edit my file it's not working ?

Please check whether you have accidentally removed a part of the sequence, or inserted new characters. This is specifically a problem in the msf format. If a sequence is removed it must also be removed from the header, where the name of the sequence along with its length is mentioned.
